About MyGoldCalc

Why I built this

I built MyGoldCalc because I couldn't find a gold calculator that was both fast and honest.

Most calculators I tried were either buried in outdated jewelry websites, plastered with ads, or gave you a number without explaining where it came from. I wanted something simple: enter your weight, pick your karat, get a real number based on today's market price — no signup, no fluff.

So I built it myself.

Who I am

I'm an independent developer. I'm not a gold dealer, a jeweler, or a financial advisor — I'm someone who got frustrated with bad tools and decided to make a better one.

I've spent time making sure the price data is sourced from reliable market feeds (GoldAPI.io and MetalpriceAPI, both verified against Kitco and APMEX), the math is transparent and explained on every page, and the calculator works cleanly on any device.

What this site is

MyGoldCalc is a one-person project. There's no team, no investors, no ads sold to gold buyers. The goal is simple: give you accurate melt value information so you can walk into any negotiation knowing your gold's worth.

The site covers common purities (8K through 24K), multiple weight units, scrap gold estimates, dental gold, and a growing library of guides for people who are new to buying or selling gold.

Data & accuracy

Prices update daily from live market feeds. I cross-check rates against major reference sites to catch any API errors. That said, melt value is a starting point — actual buyer offers vary by location, fees, and market conditions. The calculator tells you what your gold is worth; what a buyer pays is a separate negotiation.
