How to Estimate Gold Melt Value by Weight and Karat
Selling or insuring jewelry starts with two inputs: how much it weighs and what purity the metal claims (10K, 14K, 585, etc.). This short workflow matches how our calculators work—then points you to programmatic melt pages for exact gram and jewelry-type references.
1. Read the stamp (karat or fineness)
Look for 10K–24K or marks like 585, 750. If you are unsure, read our full karat stamps & hallmarks guide before you plug numbers into a tool.
2. Weigh the gold (or the part you sell)
Use a gram scale. Remove non-gold parts when possible. If you only know pennyweight, convert with our weight converter.
3. Get melt-style value
Enter weight + karat on the homepage calculator, or open your karat hub (e.g. 14K gold value) and pick a fixed gram page or a jewelry preset such as 14K ring for typical weight bands.
